Over the Martin Luther King Junior Holiday weekend, Essie Justice Group will host our Big Vision Strategy Retreat: 2018 Annual Essie Membership Convening.

At this annual event, we come together to plan for a powerful year of sisterhood and to renew our commitment to breaking the isolation and invisibility of women with incarcerated loved ones in 2018.

At the Big Vision Strategy Retreat, we will:

  • Take the next step in building Essie as a member-led organization;
  • Strategize and engage with our advocacy work in 2018 (including the report and the bail campaign);
  • Cultivate leadership as we vision the freedom futures we are building towards for women with incarcerated loved ones, our families, and communities.

The retreat also will be the first opportunity for the entire Essie membership to come together across cohorts and regions. Together, we will plan the major activities for the year, such as facilitating Essie cohorts, graduating new groups of powerful women into our sisterhood, leading our campaign to end the use of money bail in California, telling our stories, launching a campaign led by women with incarcerated loved ones through Essie’s inaugural national report and more.

If you are an Essie Sister and would like to attend our Big Vision Strategy Retreat, email [email protected].

If you’re a woman with an incarcerated loved one and would like to be a part of these events in the future, we invite you to nominate yourself for an Essie Sister Cohort. Every woman who is nominated is personally contacted by a member of our team and is invited to join our loving and powerful community.
