Advocacy Fellow

Alesha horizontal

As Advocacy Fellow, Alesha conducts member-wide outreach for campaigns, leads on advocacy related to California state prison system policies, and supports member-led abolitionist campaigns.

Alesha is an advocate and abolitionist who works with incarcerated people and their families to make sure that the rights of incarcerated people are being upheld while simultaneously pushing for abolition of the U.S. carceral system. Her intimate experiences with the system keeps her grounded in the knowledge that prisons look very different on the inside than they do on the outside and that there is deliberate, egregious abuse inside those walls daily. She has spent countless hours advocating for her incarcerated loved ones, creating spaces for those that want to help but don’t know how to get involved, and running creative campaigns that change minds through education and change laws through legislation.
