As Manager of Partnerships & Narrative Strategy, Emma manages Essie’s grant and donor funding, stewards our philanthropic partnerships, and contributes to the development of branding and narrative projects that strengthen connections between our supporters and our work.

Emma brings over six years of professional experience as a writer, advocate, and strategist with a focus on storytelling for social change in policy-focused settings. Before joining Essie, Emma worked as Digital Media Manager and Grant Manager at Justice in Aging, using narrative strategy to fight senior poverty and improve the programs low-income elders rely on. Before that, Emma developed legal writing skills and a deepened, justice-oriented framework as a paralegal at a plaintiff’s litigation firm specializing in wrongful death and injury, worker’s compensation, and employment discrimination. Emma holds a B.A. in English: Writing, Rhetoric, & Culture with minors in Classics and Theater Arts from University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
