As Director of Communications and Partnerships, Kelly oversees Essie’s communications and fundraising work and leads donor, partner, and communications strategy.
Kelly brings a decade of experience in nonprofit communications, event planning and fundraising. Kelly’s heart for gender and racial justice and her understanding of the systems that were built to harm Black and Brown communities blossomed as a result of personal experiences of racism, her mother’s continued work in addressing the food equity gap, and her experiences in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, she led a team focused on communications, digital strategies and community giving programs for a large educational healthcare network. Kelly holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Redlands and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Communications from Union College. Kelly is also a certified fundraising executive (CFRE); member of the 2021 Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access: Alford Group Mentoring and Leadership Development Program; and is finishing her NTEN Nonprofit Digital Technology Certificate.
