As Operations Manager, Yesenia sustains and innovates Essie’s internal systems to create space for people power to shine. Yesenia’s work develops Essie’s technology and data infrastructure, financial processes, and organizational practices across two offices.
For Yesenia, joining Essie was the perfect fit to build on five years of experience in both the worlds of community organizing, as well as administrative and program management. Yesenia engaged a passion for building a loving, liberatory future in prior roles as a Youth Organizer with Causa Justa Just Cause on the Community Rights team and as a labor organizing fellow with AFSCME 3299, which organizes service workers in the UC system state-wide. Having witnessed loved ones struggling to navigate unjust, dehumanizing systems, Yesenia practices a people-centered approach to operations that honors the value and dignity of all people. Yesenia is also a proud member of the Essie Sisterhood, having graduated from the Fruitvale Healing to Advocacy cohort in October 2019. Yesenia holds a B.S. in Ethnic Studies and Sociology from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California.
