Zoe

AsĀ Interim Director of Membership & Organizing, Zoe Willmott oversees the development of Essie’s signature community organizing model and advocacy campaign work to change systems of mass incarceration that harm communities and families, including a major campaign to transform the bail system in California.

Through her academic and professional experience, Zoe has developed a deep understanding of the connections between gender, race and systems of oppression. She was previously Program Manager at Project WHAT!, a youth-led program for teens with incarcerated parents, where she focused on peer support, leadership development and youth advocacy. Zoe holds a BA in Urban Studies with a concentration in race and gender history from Barnard College, Columbia University.
