Zoe Willmott

Interim Director of Membership & Organizing

As Manager of Advocacy and Programs, Zoe Willmott oversees the development of Essie’s signature community organizing model and advocacy campaign work to change systems of mass incarceration that harm communities and families, including a major campaign to transform the bail system in California.

Through her academic and professional experience, Zoe has developed a deep understanding of the connections between gender, race and systems of oppression. She was previously Program Manager at Project WHAT!, a youth-led program for teens with incarcerated parents, where she focused on peer support, leadership development and youth advocacy.

Zoe holds a BA in Urban Studies with a concentration in race and gender history from Barnard College, Columbia University.
